Mimi the mouse made her home in a mushroom. The mushroom was medium-sized with many rooms inside.
"Mimi!" called Sam the hamster from the bottom of the mushroom. "May I come up?"
Mimi peeked from her small window. "Come on up, Sam! I'm making muffins!"
Sam climbed up the stem to Mimi's main door. He smelled something warm and yummy.
"Mmm!" said Sam. "Those muffins smell amazing!"
Mimi smiled. "I'm trying a new mix with mint and maple."
Just then, something bumped the mushroom. Mimi almost fell into her mixing bowl!
"What was that?" Sam jumped.
They looked out the window. Tom the toad was jumping around the mushroom!
"Tom! Be more calm!" Mimi called.
"I'm sorry!" Tom said. "But look what I found in the stream!"
Tom held up something shiny and smooth. It was a small metal box.
"What's in it?" asked Mimi.
Tom couldn't open it. Sam tried too, but his paws kept slipping.
"Let me try," said Mimi. She tapped the box three times and said, "Open, please!"
The box made a humming sound. Then it popped open!
Inside was a tiny alarm clock. But it was no normal clock. It had arms and legs!
"Hello!" said the clock. "I'm Tim! I can remind you when your muffins are done!"
Mimi clapped her paws. "Perfect timing! My muffins need five more minutes!"
So Tim the clock danced around while they waited. When the muffins were done, they all had a yummy snack in Mimi's mushroom home.
